‘What I love about Winnie is that she’s such good company. Her days are never, ever boring so if you want to add some sparkle to yours, you just need to spend some time with Winnie and Wilbur. I’m not going to give too much away about the stories in Spooky Winnie but you may be wondering why Winnie is wrapped up in loo roll and Wilbur is draped in a ghost costume.

‘Well, it all starts when Mrs Parmar delivers a party invitation to Winnie, at the end of October . . . that should give you a clue! When she’s not putting some magic into Halloween, you’ll find Winnie taking Wilbur and her giant next-door neighbour Jerry on a spot of prehistoric time travel, making Wilbur’s fur stand on end with some spine-tingling stories, and trying to tame a new wand that has a mind of its own.

‘The pages are packed with pictures – I think my favourite has to be the one where Korky Paul has drawn Wilbur with ‘eyes as big as mushrooms’ as Winnie tells him a spooky ghost story. And Winnie’s time machine is pretty awesome, too. Every page number even has its own Korky Paul doodle around it – there are all sorts of minibeasts with miniature contraptions to frame each number, and each one is a work of art!’
